10.1.1 24-hour TSP impact
monitoring and construction noise monitoring were carried out in the reporting
month, no Action / Limit Level exceedance was recorded during the period.
10.1.2 No complaint of air quality was received. Therefore, no impact 1-hour TSP
monitoring was conducted in the reporting month.
10.1.3
Five
environmental site inspections were carried out in March 2017. Recommendations
on mitigation measures on air quality, water quality, noise, waste management
and landscape and visual impact were given to the Contractor for remediating
the deficiencies identified during the site inspections.
10.1.4
Five weekly
Landscape and Visual Site audits were carried out on 2, 9, 15, 23 and 30 March
2017 and three of them, 2, 15 and 30 March 2017 were carried out by a Registered
Landscape Architect in the reporting month. The weekly Landscape and Visual
Impact reports were counter-signed by IEC as according to the requirement of
EM&A Manual (AEIAR-130/2009).
10.1.5
Referring to the Contractor’s
information, no environmental complaint, notification of summons and successful
prosecution was received in the reporting month.
10.2
Comment and Recommendations
10.2.1
The recommended environmental mitigation
measures, as proposed in the EIA reports and EM&A Manuals shall be
effectively implemented to minimize the potential environmental impacts from
the Project. The EM&A programme would effectively
monitor the environmental impacts generated from the construction activities
and ensure the proper implementation of mitigation measures.
10.2.2
According to the environmental audit
performed in the reporting month, the following recommendations were made:
Air Quality Impact
l Open stockpile shall be
covered with impermeable sheeting to prevent dust emission.
l Main haul road shall be
kept clear of muddy or dusty materials or sprayed with water regularly.
Construction Noise Impact
l The door of the air
compressor shall be closed to reduce noise emission.
Water Quality Impact
l No
specific observation was identified in the reporting month.
Chemical and Waste Management
l The skip containing general refuse should be stored properly.
l The empty fuel bottle shall be handled properly.
Landscape and Visual Impact
l Open
stockpiles shall be covered by unobtrusive sheeting to prevent dust and dirt
spreading to adjacent landscape areas and vegetation, and to create a neat and
tidy visual appearance.
General Condition
l Proper wheel washing
facilities in every vehicle exit point shall be provided or otherwise to ensure
no vehicle would exit.
l Contractor was reminded
to prevent flooding occurred at the sink.
